Chad && Sophie split!! WHY??????? Chad Michael Murray, 24, and Sophia Bush, 23, have separated after five months of marriage, PEOPLE has learned.
A spokesperson for Bush confirmed the split, but offered no further details on the relationship between the couple, who star together on One Tree Hill.
"This is a difficult and unfortunate situation," said Bush in a statement. "I am glad this is being resolved sooner rather than later."
"I am saddened to announce that Sophia and I are separating," said Murray. "This is a very difficult time for me." Murray and Bush exchanged handwritten vows during their wedding on April 16 at Santa Monica's Hotel Casa Del Mar before 200 guests.
The couple got engaged in May 2004 in Australia when Murray popped the question on a tennis court adorned with 20 bouquets of roses and 500 lit candles spelling out a special message for Bush.
"It's a really, really important moment for a woman, so I wanted to do what I could do to make it special," Murray said at the time.
The pair met on the set of their WB show and began dating in 2003. _____________________________________________
PARiS && PARiS Not wanting to make a "mistake," Paris Hilton called off her engagement to her Greek shipping heir boyfriend Paris Latsis, just four months after he had popped the question.
"She feels that she's young and she wants to make sure it's right," actress Kyle Richards, Hilton's aunt, tells PEOPLE. "She didn't want to make a mistake with the whole world watching."
On Friday night, Hilton – minus her 23-carat engagement ring – didn't let the news keep her home as she partied at L.A.'s Spider Club with a group of pals, who at one point raised their drinks in a toast and clinked glasses. "She was dancing wildly on top of her booth," says an onlooker. "She looked like she was having a good time."
A source close to Hilton says the breakup "was her decision" and that she tried to return the ring to Latsis. "He's very sad," the source says. "He was trying to work things out. He was leaving her sweet messages."
Recently the couple – who had spent the summer traveling Europe – had come under scrutiny after Hilton, 24, was seen out-and-about with her record producer, Scott Storch – sans Latsis.
Latsis's father, Gregoris Kasidokostas, declined Saturday to say why the two broke up, but earlier had called a wedding postponement "common sense." Latsis "is young and he should wait (for marriage)," Kasidokostas told PEOPLE last week. "He should be patient."
Hilton and Latsis first met as teenagers 10 years ago in a Monaco club, and in December they rekindled their relationship while skiing in Gstaad, Switzerland, over the holidays.
In May, Latsis proposed to Hilton after she returned home to Los Angeles from a three-week trip to Europe, where she was promoting her thriller House of Wax and her new fragrance. The couple celebrated with a barbecue for 75 friends and family at the Hollywood Hills home they share.
A month later, Hilton picked out a 21-carat canary diamond as an "I Love You" ring and a white diamond engagement ring of at least 23 carats.
"I'm very in love – he's the one," Hilton said. "I want to have kids in the next two years, because I know that completes your life."
No date had been set for the wedding. _____________________________________________
HEY NATASHA, WHAT`S UP?? Natasha Bedingfield, decked out in a trendy vest, calf-length pants, and metallic wedges, sits in front of a monitor in a parking garage in downtown LA, watching footage from her video shoot for pop song “Unwritten,” just released in the US. With her long, flowing blond locks, perfectly glossed lips, and her love of health food -- she lists Whole Foods as one of her favorite places in the US -- she seems to be the quintessential California girl. That is, until she opens her mouth and you hear her “very proper” English accent.
Born to New Zealanders and raised in London with her sister Nikola, 21; her younger brother, Josh, 16; and her older brother, pop singer Daniel, 25, it’s no wonder Bedingfield has honed a wild-meets-mild style: “In England, everyone’s a bit more reserved, and so I have that part of my culture.” But she continues, “My family is very New Zealand, very Kiwi, and we just love outdoor sports and walking around in bare feet and doing mad things."
In fact, it was one 'mad thing' in particular that inspired Bedingfield to write the song "Unwritten." Go behind-the-scenes on the shoot, as she explains.
"Unwritten" may have been a gift for someone else but it was Bedingfield who got the bigger present when her album, also titled Unwritten, debuted last September at number one in the UK, making her only the third solo singer to achieve this feat.
Her stateside success was especially sweet because it has helped her step out of the shadow of her brother, Daniel, whose pop single, “Gotta Get Through This” topped the UK charts three years before her single, “These Words,” achieved the same honor. Before you start wondering about sibling rivalry, know this: there is none.
The two teamed up for a performance at the BRIT Awards this year and Bedingfield calls her brother’s support “fantastic”, though they have no plans to work together: “It would really just have to be the right song, right time,” she says. For now, the “really great friends” seem content to celebrate their moment in pop culture, sealed with a mention in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the first brother and sister solo acts to score #1 hits in the UK: “It’s crazy because everyone who gets in the Guinness Book of Records does it for doing something really mad, you know, like growing a huge pumpkin!” __________________________________
